Harper’s Wish

A Montana Series Christmas Novella

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time of year, but for Harper Donaldson it’s just another day.  Orphaned at an early age, she doesn’t have a single good memory of Christmas.

But, when a Santa’s Mailbox mysteriously appears in the lobby of the post office where she works as postmistress, Harper wonders what it could hurt to send her own letter to Santa.

Could he bring her the family she’d always wanted?

Hi there everyone, my name is Harper Donaldson and thanks to D’Ann for hosting me today J

When my author Krista, wrote my story, Harper’s Wish, I really wondered what could possibly be so all important about me or what I do that she had to tell the entire world.  I’m only a post mistress for the small cozy town of Holly Montana and an orphan who bounced through the legal system til I was old enough to take care of myself.

As far as postmistress though, I think it’s always something I wanted to do.  I remember one foster home I lived at for a while when I was eleven or twelve…she was a stay-at-home mom and her husband worked at the post office.  Occasionally he had to take me with him when his wife had to be away from home for the day.  He would let me sort some of the mail and I got so curious to know what was in all those letters that passed through there.  Sometimes they were even fancy envelopes or smelled like they had perfume on them.  It got to be an addiction and I wanted to go with him every day lol.

I guess as I got older, it just seemed natural to go Postal….err…work at the post office, sorry J  I stumbled on the ad for head postmistress and while I didn’t have a whole lot of experience working in a post office (kinda part time when I was 12ish), the current post mistress Elsie assured me it was an on-the-job training experience.  It actually worked out pretty well and I love living in Holly.  Elsie has since given over control of the reins however she still comes to work pretty much every day.  That woman knows nothing about retirement!

I sure hope you’ll decide to pay a visit to Holly and don’t forget to stop by the post office and say hello!

~ Harper

  3. I enjoy the postal message myself. Nice of your character to take time out of her busy day in Tiny town Montana. Poor thing would be bored if the prior employer didn't show up to work. (I'm in a roudy mood...I told D'Ann to fix your rafflecopter. I was tempted to copy the script onto a blog on my site so I could enter it....But decided to give D'Ann a chance to fix it first. Truly, I am in a rowdy mood today. People should probably avoid me.)

    1. I've no patience today, so I lifted the script, put it in a blog and entered it. Only your first one to be a fan of you doesn't have a link so one can do so. Thought you'd like to know. Now I'll go away and torment someone else....Have a great day Krista & D'Ann. Sorry, I'm being so bad today.
